About

My Name is Bridget Babel, and I am a Designer

It all began when I was just a little girl and my Mom gifted me with "The Power Shop" by Mattel. This neat mini woodshop machine brought me hours of cutting, punching and building pleasure, and I learned early on that I love to create STUFF. Whether it's a consumer magazine spread or a school diorama turned full-out construction project, few things stack up to the feeling of seeing, touching, and experiencing my finished works. Few things except, of course, the whole process of getting there. Thankfully, I've been able to cultivate my passion into a rewarding career, adding to my design sensiblities some practical skills along the way and applying them to multiple platforms. Experience

Design Director/
Consultant

On a contractual basis I provide visually creative direction, consultation and design for print and interactive projects. I assist my clients in building and implementing marketing and advertising strategies which include but are not limited to visual identity systems, websites, e-blasts, brochures, media kits, presentations, proposals, decks, and advertisements. I work with companies' advertising and marketing agencies to develop brand cohesive visual and editorial concepts. Additionally, I collaborate on various design projects and initiatives.

Art Director
Custom Publishing

In this role at Elite Traveler Magazine, a luxury consumer publication, I successfully managed and coordinated the art direction on special advertising projects (e.g.: inserts, special sections, and special advertising series). I was typically responsible for collaborating with ad agencies to ensure brand integrity and guideline adherence. I also coordinated with outside vendors and service providers to move projects seamlessly from inception to implementation. Simultaneously, I oversaw the work of departmental interns and freelancers.

Adjunct Instructor and
Online Facilitator

In these similar roles at Katherine Gibbs and Art Institute Online, respectively, I imparted to students the fundamentals of graphic design and print production. Through lectures and demonstrations I familiarized students with the design process. Additionally, I provided software training inline with current industry standards. When required, I conducted workshops for pupils in need of additional assistance.
As a distance learning facilitator I utilized virtual classroom lectures, exercises and online discussion to guide students through the various phases of design.
